i’ve always maintained that elle fanning is one starlet to keep an eye on. ever since her she emerged onto the scene as a 13 year old, she has kept us on her toes by making interesting, unpredictable sartorial choices. she might not always succeed, but kudos to her for taking risks at such a young age and making them work – mostly. i guess the fact that she is 11 feet tall with a gorgeous face helps.
recently, elle has been doing the rounds to promote her new film ginger and rosa . let’s take a look at two of my favorite looks.
:: nyff premiere ::
for the premiere of the film at the new york film festival, elle wears a vintage printed chiffon gown with a pussybow tie and cuffed sleeves. the color palette of this dress screams autumn. i love it. the dress is the perfect balance between sophisticated and fun – thanks to the print. she wears gold marni wedges (which you cannot really see). slightly wavy hair and a fresh face complete the look. i would have loved to see a major bun or ponytail with this look, but i think the loose hair is part of the appeal.
:: london film festival ::
elle looked ah-mazing at the london film festival wearing a resort 2013 rochas gown with a sheer yoke and a lace neckline. i am all about the big, poufy dresses. the dress is very feminine but doesn’t look princess-y due to the retro floral print. she wears the dress with a mint cardigan thrown over her shoulders, i would have preferred that she left that at home but i do like the confident vibe it is adding to her look. isn’t there something so vintage/victorian about that lace neckline. i think i would have hated this on anyone else but elle is somehow working it – again, she has the height and the look to take such risks.
