trends @ the emmys 2012: citrus

September 26, 2012

citrus hues proved to be one of the biggest trends on the red carpet at the emmys this past weekend.

it seems that yellow and orange dresses are here to stay – and this makes me very happy. some of the best looks from this years emmys were in citrus shades ranging from acid apple green to tangerine orange.  shall we have a closer look? of course we shall.

:: julie bowen ::

julie bowen totally surprised me this year. the modern family actress not only took home the trophy for best supporting actress in a comedy series but she also made it to the top of many best dressed lists. she looks spectacular in this acid green monique lhuillier gown. i looove this color. it seriously looks amazing on every skin tone. the strapless gown features interesting folds and a trumpet hem.  i really like the styling here. the messy, undone hair works really well with the dress, so do those earrings. yumma.

:: hannah simone ::

the 2 reasons i watch the new girl are 1) schmidt & 2) cici’s hair. don’t hate, you know you secretly crush on her. cici aka hannah simone opted for this ruched, emilio pucci gown with a sheer skirt and a random shoulder strap. two straps would have worked better? or, my fave, asymmetrical. i love her hair and the sweet, girly vibe she has going on. the color works well with her skintone. i would lose the earrings and those tacky tan lines. rrright?

:: julianne moore ::

one thing is certain, julianne moore knows how to choose her colors. the beautiful actress chooses the perfect shade of yellow to work with her porcelain skin and red hair. everyone knows i am all about the fairytale, girly gowns, so it is no surprise that i love the feminine shape of this christian dior fall 2012 couture gown. the gown has a very high-waisted skirt (which i feel should have been a wee-bit lower) and long sleeves. it is actually quite a demure silhoutte. the color does all the talking. and the skirt. i love this dress. if i could afford couture, this is what i would wear all the time.

:: claire danes ::

over the past few years claire danes has become a favorite of mine for her sophisticated, fuss-free style. the girl always classes it up – even when she is wearing bright yellow. claire, who is pregnant, wears a bright lanvin dress. the drop waist conceals her baby bump perfectly. the dress is fairly simple, i would have loved to see a statement necklace or some gorgeous earrings.

:: leslie mann ::

 i think this is my favorite look. i don’t know. i can’t decide. leslie wears one of my favorite styles – a sleek little top with a big poufy ball skirt. these aren’t separates though, don’t let me confuse you. leslie mann wears a spring 2013 naeem khan gown, hot off the runway. her two-toned dress has a sheer, embellished bodice contrasted with a delish shade of marigold. i love that she added some turquoise to this look. because who doesn’t love turquoise? her lorraine schwartz  bracelets and earrings injected some fun into this already robust look. love the high bun too, works well with this style.

:: padma lakshmi ::

this is my favorite look ever from padma lakshmi. the indian beauty wears a very striking orange monique lhuillier gown.  this dress is perfection – the color, the shape, the whole vibe. and it fits padma like a glove. she is a total goddess in this. simple makeup and tumbling curls are just what this dress needed. isn’t this look just sensational?

 :; ginnifer goodwin ::

ginnifer goodwin is always so much fun on the red carpet. she takes risks, goes for the unexpected and usually ends up looking j’amazing. the emmys were no different. ginnifer wears a striking monique lhuillier covered with tangerine floral embroidery and ribbon applique. the dress has an on-trend, high-low hem and a matching waistband. ginnifer adds louboutin bis un bout pumps and a metallic ferragamo clutch completes this look. beautywise she adds cleopatra inspired eyes and her elfin hairdo.
