‘the switch’ l.a premiere: jennifer aniston

August 17, 2010

jennifer aniston’s new rom-com the switch premiered last night in los angeles’ cinerama dome. i have to say, jennifer’s red carpet style has been pretty consistent for, like, decades: short, tight, neutral.

this time was no different

jennifer wears a strapless lanvin dress with nude jossie and lottie heels. the dress is  in two of jen’s favorite colors – black and nude. i like the side ruffle on the skirt, it gives an otherwise dull dress a kick. the double-tones of the dress are a bit reminiscent of this vionnet which cameron diaz wore to the premiere of knight and day; but cameron’s dress is soooo much more interesting. jen is not one to choose dresses with such extreme details

she accessorizes with fred leighton earrings and a ferragamo croc clutch. i feel like i have seen her look like this a thousand times. there is nothing memorable about this look. yes, she looks nice…but doesn’t she always look nice? i wish the woman would infuse some color into her wardrobe. it would be great to see her in some turquoise or a dash of hot pink.

even the hair and make-up remain unchanged. it would be great to see her in some curls, or smokey eyes or red lips or SOMETHING. i remember she was a lot more ‘experimental’  in her friends days. i remember seeing her in some gorgeous ensembles, with pulled back hair and great make-up. perhaps she feels she must always play it safe? you know, finding your niche and sticking to it? it’s kind of a bore.

I think she is gorgeous no matter what she wears, and if she likes to keep this simple style, well so good for her, I guess it works and its her style. What is wrong with that?
