sonam kapoor in all sorts of designer duds

December 8, 2011

everyone’s favorite bollywoodista (ok just mine) has been making all sorts of fashion related appearances as of late.  that really is the life isn’t it? wearing clothes fresh off the runway and popping up at various gigs around the world. le sigh

at this snazzy gig in mumbai, sonam opted to wear a gucci spring 2012 ensemble. well obviously.  her safari print shirt is paired with two toned pants, this is the exact look from the runway. but hey, it works.  being a lover of animal prints, i do love the top. it’s very chic in a monochromatic way. the pants? i don’t love em but i don’t hate em. sonam plays up the bling factor from the gold buttons with her shoes, clutch and earrings  – all of which have gold accents.  her trademark pompadour ponytail completes the look.

at the chanel pre-fall 2012 show in paris WHICH I STILL CANNOT GET OVER sonam chose a very, um, interesting chanel dress. this is just not working for me. i wish i could chop the sleeves off of this mofo and get on with it – they are just too big and too overwhelming and not working at all. this dress would actually be cute without em. i think adding the tights was ok, considering it’s chanel and it’s black and white so you get the drift right? but i really think she should have opted for two-toned shoes OR even white shoes – however crazy that might sound. i don’t like the way her legs are blending into her feet. the hair should also have been in a slick bun. and the necklace OR the earrings have to go. oh my god i am just so disappointed with this.

which was why i was so excited when i say this…

sonam looked fantabulous at a bash for tom cruise in the taj hotel.  she rocked a red hot, asymetrical fall 2011 prabal gurung dress with a knotted bodice. looovin it. now this is styled perfectly. i love the combination of black and red so i’m glad she stuck to that with strappy black sandals and bottega knot. this silhouette is very flattering for sonam, she should wear something like this all the time. sideswept hair, smoky eyes and big sparkly earrings up the glamour quotient of this look.

[…] sonam kapoor has been giving us some hits and some misses. i find this quite distressing because in her early days she was quite consistent with her sartorial choices and styling…could it be a case of trying to hard to live up to an “icon” status? perhaps. but i think she should go back to not taking it all so seriously because she hardly made a mistake. i think the more important question here is why am i still going on about this?
