sari sightings: rani mukherjee

November 24, 2010

there are few people in the world who can work a sari as well as ms. rani mukherjee. she just always looks good in them; even if the sari is fug, rani carries it with grace.

in the past few weeks, sista has been breaking out the sabyasachis.

i love the plain white saris with contrasting borders, they are so classic.  i love the accessorizing with the white and gold sari rani wore to durga puja celebrations last month; some might think the gold bangles, necklace and jhumkas are a bit much but i think accessorizing is the best way to give personality to such a simple sari. and i am a sucker for ott jewelry. sue me.

my fave is the sari rani wore while presenting an award to the dali lama (left). it’s trademark sabya and she looks absolutely stunning. i am a fan.

and hate me if you will, i even love the plaid/gota/banarsi creation. it’s kitschy! rani gives it a more ethnic spin with the bindi and jewels.

so what’s your fave?

Doesn’t the sari on left looks like its white and has been badly photoshopped?
i love the white sari with red and black border. do NOT like her bindiya. she needs to add some other colour than red.

she couldn’t wear a clashing bindiya! no it’s that color, like hay…or wheat.
