while many bollywood actresses are now opting for western gowns on the red carpet, there are a few who don saris every now and then.
:: priyanka chopra ::
it wouldn’t be an indian awards show without the obligatory manish malhotra sari sighting now would it? and who better to fulfill this obligation than priyanka chopra, lover of all things mm? while the sari is not bad, it is nothing to write home about. it is also quite similar to the sari kareena wore to the unveiling of her wax statue in london. while the embellishment is different, the color palette is exactly the same. the thing i’m glad about is that the embellishment on priyanka’s sari is different from what we have been seeing from mm for about a hundred years now. glittery, silver stripes look gorgeous against the ivory organza (chiffon?). a velvet border and silk blouse, both in maroon, provide contrast. priyanka keeps the hair and makeup simple.
:: sonali bendre ::
sonali wears an ink blue sari with maroon and emerald green trimming by abu-sandeep. velvet seems to be big again this year. her sari has a velvet blouse with an embroidered gold border. i think a plain, non-velvet blouse would have worked better here, because the sari itself is gorgeous.
:: katrina kaif ::
it seems that every time katrina wears a sari, it’s pink. but hey, who are we to complain?
katrina channels her teri ore days with this hot pink and gold sari. i’m not gonna lie, i totally copied this color combo for a sari i wore on my brother’s wedding – shameless, i know. her sari is the most gorgeous shade of hot pink. she pairs it up with a gold sleevless sequined blouse. it’s plain and perhaps the most wearable of the saris we saw at the awards. but i’ll be the first to say the combo is a little played out (especially since i wore it 3 years ago- ok i’m done)
so who rocked their sari the best?
