so we’ve all read about the dress incessantly, i’m sure we are ready to move on. so allow me to divulge interesting facts about the other things kate was wearing.
:: the veil ::
kate’s sheer veil was made out of ivory silk tulle and hand embroidered by a team from the royal school of needlework. yes, that is the same team that has to wash their hands every 30 mins and change needles every 3 hours. perfection is hard work my friends.
:: the jewels::
the only piece of jewelry (excluding the tiara) kate wore diamond earrings by robert pelham which were designed keeping in mind the tiara. the teardrop shaped earrings are oak-leaves with an acorn in the middle – symbols from the middleton’s new family crest. seriously though, they got a family crest. that’s intense.
i shrieked because i am most excited about this. oh how i want a vintage cartier tiara. or. oh how i want to be a princess. kate’s ‘something borrowed’ was the cartier halo tiara lent to her by the queen. the queen received the tiara as a present on her 18th birthday from her mother. i think it is beautifully understated – so very kate. i haven’t been able to find out how many carats it is, if anyone does please do let me know.
