royal wedding: princess ameerah of saudi arabia

April 30, 2011

i thought i would start the wedding blogging extravangza by blogging about one of the more obscure guests (by obscure i mean not a celeb/popular royal). princess ameerah of saudi is married to a saudi prince with a very long name which i do not have the energy nor the will to type.

princess ameerah wears a custom made zuhair murad. i absolutely love this look: a lace overcoat over a plain dress with a dainty belt and bow. it is so ladylike and sophisticated – just perfect for this occasion.  a gorgeous hat, clutch and satin pumps complete the look. i love the sideswept raven hair – it so exotic and glam.

is anyone else as surprised me to see a saudi princess wearing a skirt in a public domain?

And if she wore this “ladylike” outfit in public in her home country she would be stoned to death for “disrespecting” her husband.

Oh she would be put to jail for a few days I guess, would her husband agree or not. But since she is the wife of a billionaire Prince, a wealthy businesswoman in her own right, and daughter to a powerful and distinguished tribal chief, who’d dare cross her?

I was also surprised to see her in this outfit but apparently this is accepted in the Saudi royal circles

omg, i looooove her hair. absolutely.
and yes, i’m equally surprised to see a Saudi princes baring skin in public. More power to the ladies!

hes da only prince who raises voice against the strict laws in saudi…hes all for modernisation n hes quite vocal abt it!

That’s interesting, I wasn’t aware of that. I guess it makes sense then that his wife is liberal when compared to the regular Saudi woman.

you know what strikes me.. is that: why is he dressed in his traditional celebration outfit.. while she’s not??!!
i have to note that.. i am a muslim.. n i live in UAE.. which is next to saudi arabia.. n she doesnt have to be dressed in all black drapes.. what so ever.. i mean.. saudi women do wear colorful cotour too.. in a traditional way.. so y is she not waering so.. or at least.. y is the prince not wearing a suit? some arabs really have weird thoughts.. with all do respect to all, and to the prince.. still i adore her look

Why is he on the phone with his tackle in his hand?

I think she looks amazing – better than prince andrew’s daughter’s who looked like the ugly sisters! I think she can dress how she wants and if her hubby is cool with it – even better! I wonder why she wasn’t photographed more??? –

i agree! i think they tried too hard. hated bea’s fascinator and eugenie’s dress. both were disasters. princess ameerah is an absolute stunner. i can’t find much about her on the net though.

    very conservative but fashionable.
And to let you know, Saudi women DO wear such pretty clothing that shows skin. they only cover themselves in-front of men.
Because of what they call, (Fetna).
I lived at Saudi Arabia a while, The women are very kind and always on fashion. They’re also very beautiful!
There’s a part of Saudi’s that i don’t like. men with beards and short formal clothings. they scare me! they treat women like filth.

Her Royal Highness Princess Amira and His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed are trying to set the foundations for a fresh and modern mentality among folk throughout the Middle East.
And to one’s own disbelief- The Royal family of Al Saud is more open minded than one may think in many ways, however still limited in others.

This is subsequently due to the heavy influence of the decadent western world- a culture full of freedom and acceptance and its very attractive to anyone, and yet as Arab’s, we still need to keep a high respect for the family name and tradition of the old Arabian ways and values…so its a very fine, delicate line to tread for Arabs.
I love Princess Amira and Prince Alwaleed’s efforts to reform the ways. Stagnancy and repression (especially for womens equality) has to go!

Anyway, always love Amira’s style- stunning lady. And yes shes famous in the Gulf areas! Look at her! Not only is she beautiful outside, but she is very lovely inside also.
