Representin’: Mahira Khan in India

November 17, 2014

Ever since the “Humsafar” onslaught a few years ago (can you believe it has been that long?!) Mahira has been Pakistan’s sweetheart. Now, with international syndication, she has become the world’s sweetheart. The lovely Mahira is currently on a press tour in India, I don’t think she has a movie releasing there so I don’t understand this but ANYWAY. I have always had a soft spot for Mahira’s style game, she can go from super minimalistic, to vintage to glam in a heartbeat. Girl is a fashion chameleon. And of course her outfits are the best part of this press tour, for me at least.

Let’s have a looksie.

mahira-khan-in-MuseMahira smartly chose all Pakistani designers for her appearances, which gets a big A+ from moi. We have so many gorgeous talented people in the country, it is about time people start seeing that.

For her first appearance, Mahira wears a bright, floral maxi dress by Muse. I really love this dress. It is bold, colourful and unexpected. And of course she looks great in it. My only gripe is the red lipstick. With so many gorgeous shades of pink and purple I would have loved to see her in with punchy pink lip.

Here Mahira wears a shalwar kameez paired with an embellished jacket (coatie) by the amazing Sania Maskatiya. I do love a bit of throwback, the vintage vibes are working for me.  A sleek pulled back hairdo and kundaan baalis complete the look.

mahira khan in vintage feeha jamshed teejaysMahira goes full-on desi girl in this vintage Feeha Jamshed ensemble which consists of a long velvet kameez full of dabka work. To me, this feels like something you would wear to a family shaadi not a press appearance. It takes things a bit too far. The Sania Maskatiya look still had a bit of an edge to it, this one is just TOO traditional and TOO formal. It doesn’t work.

Beauty-wise, this is my favourite look so far – obsessed with the slick straight hair. Here Mahira is wearing a sheer embroidered maxi dress by Feeha Jamshed. I love this silhouette on her, she looks cool and modern but the Bahawalpuri embroidery lends a touch of traditional.

What do you guys think?
