obsession du jour: ethnic quirk

November 1, 2012

how many kinds of fabulous is this ring? as you all know, i am all about the weird and the quirky – add in an ethnic touch and i am sold.  i could not believe this ring i saw while at monal in the hills of islamabad. this place is a a haven for anyone who loves little treasures like these. there are a number of stalls where one can find everything from antique jewelry to buddha statues from bamyan.

the ring above is an antique silver piece adorned with turquoise and lapis lazuli and will run you about rs 3000/- (roughly $33.00) . isn’t it amazing?

That ring cost Rs. 500 last year from the jewelry stand at Kohsar Market in Islamabad, and earlier this year, it cost Rs. 600 at Zainab Market in Karachi. It really don’t think it’s antique silver since I’ve seen earrings and rings with the same design and workmanship.

I think you mean the smaller version, I got that for about Rs 500 too. This one was as big as my hand so I don’t think it could be so cheap. I have seen the smaller versions in Karachi, Lahore and Isb too.
