black is always a staple on the red carpet. it is flattering, chic, timeless and (usually) works really well. so it is no surprise that we saw many ladies in black at the vogue beauty awards.
zarine khan, deepika padukone, angela jonsson, diana penty and sonali bendre all opted for black outfits and each one of them did it their own way. the question is, who did it best?
:: angela ::
indian supermodel angela jonsson gives bjork a run for her money in this gaurav gupta gown. i swear bjork has just ruined the swan motif forever, hasn’t she? angela’s hi-low gown has a mesh bodice with strategically placed swan embroidery. black pointed pumps, a patent louboutin clutch and spiked bangles complete this look. i wish angela had opted for a edgier hairstyle ala sonam to really make this look stand out. the dress is very out there and her styling does not live up to it. but how gorg is she?
:: zarine ::
zarine khan looks surprisingly good in this strapless, colorblocked zara jumpsuit. adding the belt was a good idea, adds some definition. she could use an upgrade in the clutch department but we will let that slide. i know this isn’t something ah-mazing, but considering what we are used to seeing from zarine, i’m gonna give her two thumbs up. she might be a bit underdressed, but sometimes less is more.
:: sonali ::
sonali is the picture of elegance in an embellished black and gray dior gown. she looks age appropriate and classy, as usual. i find the skirt to be a bit plain, it is almost weighing down the silk top but overall she looks amazing. i love love the romantic hairdo and makeup.
:: deepika ::
deepika glammed it up with this sequined concoction. her dolce and gabbana ensemble consists of a ruched black corset and gold sequined skirt. people have been having mixed reactions to this look across the blogosphere but i love it. deeps is working it. it totally suits her attitude and i always love seeing something different at bollywood events. 2 heavy duty cuffs, toned down makeup and curly hair completes this look.
:: diana ::
i think diana p. was my best dressed of the evening. she looked fantabulous in a pre-fall 2012 gucci gown with bronze embellishment on one shoulder. some interesting drape detail and a thigh high split add an element of sexiness. the dress is perfectly paired with louboutin lady max heels (which we recently spotted on marion c.) and a black beaded clutch. the girl is beautiful and statuesque and she chose a perfect dress.
