there is no doubt (pun intended) about it, gwen stefani is and always will be a fashion icon. the girl is always stylish and always stands out in a crowd – and not in a retarded lady gaga manner either – she does it with some class, as exhibited at the kennedy centre honors last week.
gwennie kiiillllled it in a gorgeous GORGEOUS yellow dress with black detailing by prada. the dress has a boat-neck, fitted bodice and flares out with a fishtail hem; the patent black bow belt adds the perfect touch of femininity. what really won me over is the beautiful shade of the dress. everybody knows i love me some yellow. there is a fault with the dress however – the bust is so ill-fitted, i wish somebody had paid attention to that.
the make-up and hair compliment the sophistication of the dress perfectly. i love the teased, retro, half-up hair. this is one of my fave hairstyles and i am forever trying to wear my hair like this – unfortunately i sometimes end up with a beehive reminiscent of amy winehouse and therefore fail. gwen’s trademark red lips, porcelain skin and black lined eyes complete the look.
at the second night of the kennedy centre honors, gwen showed up wearing an equally fabulous rafael cennamo resort 2011 gown. the black and white striped gown is appliqued with organza fans, makes for an interesting visual. it is a completely different look from the yellow prada but works just as well.
gwen looks breath-taking here. compared to the first day, she looks a lot more vibrant (face wise), it is probably because of the color she is wearing.
it is difficult for a platinum blonde to make yellow work, gwen does do a fab job of it but she looks so much fresher in the black and white dress. it’s easier to judge considering the make-up is almost identical. a pulled-back curled hairstyle finishes off this look.
