i am such a shameless of jennifer lopez groupie.
side note: mark anthony seriously creeps me out
since the day she was jenny from the block, i have been googley-eyed for j-lo. a lot of people might think of her as “too urban”, “too crude”, “too latina”, but admit or not she is a fashion icon and has inspired many trends throughout the years – from risque plunging necklines to blinged out ghetto fabulousness, from fantablous bronze makeup to caramel highlights. she defined the look of the nation for years.
it’s true. admit it.
@ the apollo theatre’s spring benefit in nyc yesterday, j-lo wore a gold metallic gianfranco ferre minidress with a plunging neckline, adorned with (what else?) kabillions of tiny sequins.
j-lo has the uncanny ability to always choose outfits that fit her insanely well. in the world of hollywood, where skinnier is always better, j-lo has always embraced her curves. with that said, the nit-picker in me couldn’t overlook the fact that this dress seems a little tight around the hips. i feel there might be the slight danger of the dress ripping apart.
and black pumps – they are too TOO severe, she needs some gold platforms. remember the gold rodarte’s mentioned in my earlier post? how friggin sexy would they look with this dress? very.
however, her other accessories are killing it. just my kind of bling – big rocks, gold, chunky. i am in love. she is carrying carrying an etro clutch which breaks up the color of her dress and has evidently matched her ring and bangle with it.
i’m on the fence about the hair too. i know the intention was for it to look softer then it usually does, but something is off about the color…it is making her tresses look like dry hay.
at least the make-up is toned down. despite all of my criticism (unnecessary perhaps?) i think she looks amazing.
