i don’t know why but everytime i hear the word pippa, i feel an exclamation mark should follow.
we all know that ever since the wedding and that dress, pippa has become the world’s darling. i, for one, do not understand what all the hype is about. she doesn’t really appeal to me, esp not as a fashion icon. but i did love her smart, chic look while she was out shopping in london last week.
this is like a weird mix of casual/business chic. the tailored jacket keeps this look from being too casual, so does the fact that pippa is wearing a shift dress as opposed to a loose-fitting summery. it is the print of the dress and the leather bag which prevent this look from being too business-y. eh eh, do you get it? such are the tricks of fashion my lovelies.
here are three versions of the same look.
1. an animal print dress with a cropped jacket stays true to the essential idea of the original outfit while spazzing it up like there’s no tomorrow. dress: giambattista valli, jacket: house of fraser
2. dress: like pippa’s look, the print of the dress injects just the right amount of color and personality while the cut and the jacket keep the look serious. this outfit would rock the hell out of any business meeting. dress: mcqueen folklore print dress, jacket: marsi
3. dress: a more laid-back version, a flowery chiffon frock and an interesting blazer do the trick just as well. i love love love this jacket – so sleek. erin kleinberg aphro dress, jacket: damirdona available at farfetch
essentials: a tan leather bag, gold stud earrings, oversized sunnies and taupe shoes (flats for day, heels for night)
bags: miu miu and proenza
shoes: zara laser cut heels, chloe marion flats
