desi boyz: deepika’s promo looks.

November 22, 2011

deepika padukone isn’t exactly a fashionista in my eyes, she usually looks average but in the recent past she has been churning out some memorable looks.

d-pad is currently promoting her latest film desi boyz (yes, that is boys with a ‘z’ – a future classic i’m sure) so you know sista-friend is all over the place. her looks have been mostly low key, trying to be sophisticated with a dash of yowza here and there – with red being the color of choice. let us take a look.

:: kabbadi world cup finals ::

deepika, alongwith the rest of the cast of the film, performed at the kabbadi (desi wrestling) finals at ludhiana. her outfit could not have been more perfect for this event. she chooses a mustard kameez and patialia shalwar. this is such a refreshing change from the hoards of anarkalis we have been seeing for what seems like eons now. she has the height to pull off just about anything, doesn’t she? a half up hairstyle and the way she has draped her dupatta give her a very demure, village lass look, i’m pretty sure that’s what she was trying to do. i would have loved khussas with this look, but the gold peeptoes give it a more formal feel.

:: bbc good good guide launch ::

at the bbc launch deepika worked it in one of many red looks. she looks polished and sweet in an asymmetrical dvf dress. the dress is feminine and flattering, i am glad it isn’t skintight like the usual looks we see. diamond studs and a bouffant half-up style completes this look. i just don’t understand the silver glitter peeptoes, paired with that foot tattoo they look extremely tacky. she should have opted for plain peeptoes or a sexy strappy stiletto.

:: promo event in ludhiana ::

deepika worked a sexy office look with a white draped top by zara and navy blue pencil skirt. a tan belt and nude peeptoe heels are the finishing touches. i love the bouffant ponytail – it is the perfect hairstyle for this top. i kinda wish she had paired this up with some cobalt skinnies ala sophie ch. nonetheless, she looks prim and proper. a bit low key for this kind of event but i feel like she might be trying to balance out her siren persona by throwing in looks like this one.

:: hello magazine hall of fame awards 2011 ::

girls, this is called knocking it out of the ballpark.

at the hello awards ceremony, deepika was at her statuesque best in this red hot gauri and nainika gown. this shape is divine, she literally looks like she is 7 feet tall. the dress fits like a glove, and has a peplum, high neck and flared out skirt. i love this shade of red against deepika’s skin. and the lips. they are just right. it is so difficult to get the right shade of red lipstick for us desis but this one is perfect. and then we have another pompadour hairstyle – this seems to be deepika’s fave look at the moment. i ain’t complainin’ i think the style looks really chic on her. she looks stunning.

:: desi boyz clothing launch ::

a clothing line? with a movie? i’m not even gonna ask.

deepika shows up in a very short, very lacy bebe dress to the unveiling of the desi boyz clothing line. deepika certainly has the body to pull of such silhouettes, but it is the pattern which is throwing me off here. i mean, there are so many beautiful lace patterns out there, why the hell would bebe choose these monstrosities? maybe black lining could have redeemed this dress- but alas it wasn’t so. while i’m not feeling the dress, deepika manages to make this work with her confidence. and neck-up she looks like a million bucks.

:: desi boyz music launch ::

this was one of the yowza moments. deepika showed us that she has the best body in b-town with this bodycon dress by bebe. i know this dress is really tight and really short, but good damn she looks h-o-t. makes me wanna hit the gym. but not really. it’s unfortunate that she chose those gold glitter peeptoes. hate them.

which look is your favorite?
