jj valya’s collection wasn’t jaw-dropping, but there were some outfits which stood out. interestingly, most of the outfits which caught my eye seemed to be centered on the same theme: gold.
absolutely gorgeous saris, coats, gowns in the most decadent shade of gold. fashioned out of organza, brocade, banaras and chiffon (one in one instance, gold lame) in traditional silhouettes, these outfits are the epitome of old-fashioned luxe indian outfits. my favorite from the pieces i have highlighted is the plain chiffon kameez with the long-sleeved banaras bodice- it is simple yet luxurious. perfection.
kangana ranaut was the celebrity to walk this runway
and she did so wearing a red hoop-skirt lehnga covered with intricate embellishments. i don’t love this lehnga, that’s because i am not a fan of red – a biased critique. however, i do love the idea of a hoop-skirt lehnga, how FUN. very southern belle-ish.
but forget the lehnga, check out the bling
that necklace is to die for. i am going to have dreams about it tonight. it’s a giantti kundan necklace with rubies. that thing is gorgeous.
