some things are a give, like the fact that you can always count on sabyasachi to present a stand-out collection at every fashion week.
sabyasachi mukherjee is undoubtedly the grandmaster of couture in india. and his new moon collection at delhi couture week 2012 was a testament to that. the silhouettes were pretty much the same as we have seen before, alongwith sabyasachi’s trademark styling of the models. but there was a new injection of color, specifically scarlet and teal. the clothes excuded an old-world charm that sabyasachi has come to represent.
the collection is a representation of the world. merging together characteristics of 5 cities: new york, kolkata, berlin, paris and barcelone). the clothes employ embellishment and embroidery methods from all over the world: russian needlepoint, boutis from provence, zardozi from agra, kantha from bangladesh, block printing from bengal and rajasthan, intricately embroidered pashmina from kashmir, and toile de joy from france to bring a collection that is intricate, masterful and at times breath-taking.
have a look after the jump.
