black is always a popular choice for awards season, be it summer or winter. at the critics’ choice awards, three of the best dressed ladies opted for black.
:: charlize theron ::
charlize theron is such a class act. she is seriously the epitome of sophistication. i mean, who else can take a ruffled dress and make it look so polished? the actress looks goddess-like in her azzedine alaia fall 2011 couture gown. she looks about 7 feet tall here. the gown has scalloped edges, a self-print bodice and ruffled skirt. charlize let’s the dress do the talking by keeping her make-up neutral and her accessories minimal. a low, braided chignon completes the look. this girl is always red-carpet royalty.
:: kirsten dunst ::
kiki was a fashion superstar in 2011. looks like she’s going to keep up her game in 2012. she wears a fun, black chiffon christian dior spring 2012 dress. i actually love this dress. it’s how to do black without being boring. i love the bows and ribbon stripes running down the bodice, a tiered skirt and chiffon hem give the dress a very youthful feel. jimmy choo heels and diamond earrings finish the look. and the hot pink lips? a stroke of genius. they really take this to a whole new level. also, love her sideswept messy hair. she makes high-end look so wearable.
:: evan rachel wood ::
everybody remember when evan rachel wood was the mini-queen of goth? yeah, i do. that was a hot mess. luckily, she gathered her marbles, got rid of manson and discovered her classic beauty. at this event however, she seems to channel her old persona with a gothic gypsy-like strapless gown from valentino’s spring 2012 collection. the embroidered gown is quite versatile, i think it can work as well off the red carpet as it is working on it. rachel dresses up the dress with a twisted updo, embellished clutch and onyx earrings. i think something around the neck would have helped. but she looks great without it.
