Bride Wars: Desi Brides 2012

SO is it just me or does it seem like everyone and their mama got married in 2012? There were lots of major international weddings like Jessica Biel’s and Anne Hathaway’s – and lots of major local, Pakistani weddings. The important thing is, who looked the best at their nuptials?

Pakistani bride Fia Khan Maram Azmat Syra Yousef Kiran Chaudhry Bride Wars: Desi Brides 2012Model Fia Khan, singer Kiran Chaudhry, MUA and photog Maram Azmat and actress Syra Yousef all tied the knot in 2012.

We have already taken a look at Kiran’s bridal get-up. Let’s talk about the rest. The vintage, traditional route seems to be the most popular with this ladies. Fia, Kiran and Maram all sported beautiful, traditional outfits with heirloom jewelry and simple makeup. Syra Yousef went the minimalist, modern route.

:: Fia Khan ::

I am a sucker for white/neutral bridal dresses so naturally I love this look. The ensemble is beautifully complimented by old school jewels including a matha patti and haath-phools. The flawless makeup is by Maram and Aabro. That shade of red on her lips is just perfect.  Honestly, I have never seen Fia look better.

:: Maram Azmat ::

Seriously, now do you guys get my obsession with FH? I absolutely love this lehnga. The gold embellishment is subtle and works wonderfully with the blue, and the bronze brocade lehnga keeps the look from being too heavy. The color is divine on Maram…and could her makeup be more gorgeous? We see vintage, traditional jewels. So in love with this.

:: Syra Yousef ::

The lovely Syra Yousef married Sheroz Sabswari wearing a gorgeous peach Sania Maskatiya bridal. I am obsessed with this color on dulhans. I was itching to wear this shade of melon-y peach on my own wedding until I realized it looks horrid on me – much sadness ensued. Syra, on the other hand, looks beautiful. Her lehnga is covered with intricate silver embellishment, which she paired up with a simple diamond set. I love that she kept things so minimal. Ranaa Khan did a tremendous job with makeup – Syra looks young and flawless.

So wins this bride war? For me it is Maram…nothing beats her jaw-droppingly beautiful lehnga. It is a traditional look in an unconventional color – and that is why it works, it is both old and new.
