The Cannes Film Festival fared much better on Day 2 of the festivities. I’m just going to dive straight into it.
As you all know I am a sucker for beautiful, feminine, fairy tale gowns and Cate Blanchett’s dreamy Valentino just blew me away. The shimmering gray gown from the Pre Fall 2014 collection is absolute perfection. The structured feathered shoulders and collars give the gown a cool, modern edge without overwhelming the airiness of the gown. A beautiful updo and pink diamond earrings complete the look.
Adele Exarchopoulos was the recipient of the Trophee Chopard being presented by Cate Blanchett. I love how the two stars look like they coordinated their Valentino gowns. Adele’s gown is actually couture – a serene taupe covered with dull silver embroidery. I have always loved the sleekness of a long sleeved gown. The fact that her hair is so boho chic, keeping the look fresh and cool.
Blake Lively continues to hit home runs on the Cannes red carpet with this shimmering Chanel gown. I usually don’t love Chanel gowns, but Blake is working the hell out of this one. The dress has many interesting elements like a lampshade waist and pockets, I even like the satin shawl. Baby pink Sophia Webster pumps and gorgeous earrings finish this off.
Moving away from neutrals now, let’s come to French actress’ Sonia Rolland’s lacy Zuhair Murad number. The red gown is just stunning. I am obsessing over the sequined embroidery and kaftan-esque feel of the dress. Well done Ms. Rolland.
