balmain mania

June 7, 2011

balmain is one brand which seems to try very hard to stay exclusive, we never see a lot of it on the red carpet – maybe one dress after weeks or even months. so it was a little weird to have 3 balmain sightings at one event.

fashionistas leighton meester, mila kunis and kristen steward were all lucky enough to sport some balmain at the mtv movie awards. love how different each look is – and befitting to each girl’s personal style.

:: leighton ::

this dress is like the antithesis of blair waldorf isn’t it (yeah i won’t ever be able to write a leighton post without mentioning blair – sue me). this dress, from the 2011 spring collection, is so over the top. it seems like every embellishment known to mankind was used here – i love it. the dress reminds me a lot of j-lo’s look from the 2011 grammy’s with the whole jagged/metallic theme.  while the dress is funky and makes an impact, i have to say the fit of the dress leaves a lot to be desired. it almost makes her look thick. and we all know leighton is not thick.  gorgeous ombre hair and pierre hardy heels complete the look.

:: mila ::

how do i get my hair this shiny dammit. mila kunis is so so so gorgeous, is she not? i think this balmain look is my favorite – the black top and embellished skirt are from the fall 2011 collection. i am loving how both these pieces are working with each other – the black shirt plays down the bling of the skirt and vice versa. OBSESSED.

:: kristen ::

madame stewart still annoys me like no other but i will give credit where it’s due. this spring 2011 balmain dress seems made for her – it’s all punk/rock chic. you know, with the safety pins and all.  i do feel the dress fails to be as edgy as it’s supposed to be, but she still makes it work.  her trademark undone hair completes the look. and i seriously wish she would look beyond those boring black pumps. there is a WORLD of gorgeous shoes out there.

what do you think of these balmain sightings?
