Aishwaryra Rai @ Cannes 2013: 100 Years of Indian Cinema

Aishwarya Rai Cannes 2013 in Sabysachi

Aishwarya Rai made an interesting appearance at the ‘1oo Years of Indian Cinema Gala’ at Cannes last night and although I have read mixed reviews of this look on the blogosphere, it is one I am tilting towards. Probably because it is over the top and I am all about that.

FILM-CANNES/Ash wears a black and gold sari by Sabyasachi. She has had a major flawless Sabyasachi moment at Cannes before – see here. So I was glad to see her sticking to the designer once again. When I saw this picture, I instantly thought DOLCE AND GABBANA. I have to say, while the influence is blindingly obvious, I do love the Indian twist on things.

The baroque sari itself is quite heavy considering the season, perhaps another color might have done better…The hair and makeup is magnificent. I read a lot of comments attacking the blouse, the embellishment, the headband but I think Ash manages to pull this off flawlessly. If you guys read my blog regularly you know I am extra hard on Aishwarya so me saying that means A LOT. Also, this is such a step up from last year’s Abu Sandeep disaster

So what;s the verdict? Am I the only one who loves this look? Is this early morning afternoon fatigue speaking? Or does she really look fab?

All is well for me except the close tight neckline and full sleeves blouse…

I don’t know why are people so against FULL SLEEVED blouse and a closed neckline? I think it looks fabulous very different and decent from the trauma of bikini blouses
